Jersey Round Island Walking Holiday
Jersey was simply made for a walking holiday and entices you to explore it on foot.
British, yet just a short distance from the French coast, the island of Jersey combines the best of British and Gallic experience in a walking holiday. The language is English, the road signs are in French, with traditional croissants for breakfast and Jersey cream teas in the late afternoon. Cafes, bars and country pubs offer some of the best seafood available anywhere.
The Jersey ‘Round Island Walk ‘ is a circuit of Jersey’s beautiful coastline, with a tremendous contrast in scenery for such a compact area. Along the north coast the heather covered cliff path has spectacular scenery with fantastic views of the other Channel Islands, while the south has sloping sandy bays and harbour’s surrounding the capital St Helier. From the rockier marine environment on the island’s east coast, the Cherbourg peninsula is visible just 18 miles across the Channel in France, while on the west coast the blue waters and wide sands of St Ouen’s Bay roll out before your eyes.
Highlights of the walk include stops at Pontac, the small fishing port of La Rocque, Mont Orgeuil Castle, St Catherine’s breakwater, Rozel Bay, the views of the French coast and the other Channel islands at Sorel Point, the ruins of Grosnez Castle, Les Mielles de Morville Jersey’s ‘National Park’, Corbière Lighthouse, Les Creux Country Park, the enticing little bays of Beauport and Portelet, the picturesque harbour of St Aubin and Elizabeth Castle (a small island at sea).
Jersey is a wonderful place to relax and unwind, and enjoy a laid back island walking holiday.
