South West Coast Path Walking Holiday
A walking holiday on the South West Coast Path takes you on Britain ‘s longest and most spectacular National Trail. The South West Coast Path’s 630-mile (1,008km) walk traces the beautiful and dramatic coastlines of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset, rounding the most westerly tip of Britain at Lands End
Beginning in Minehead in Devon, on the edge of the Exmoor National Park noted for its red deer and famous ponies, and ending in Pool in Dorset, the walk winds it’s way through some of the most scenic coastal scenery to be found anywhere in Europe. The South West Coast Path leads through centuries of history from early Celtic periods to 19 C tin mining, and the unique breathtaking scenery of unique geological make-up of this section of British coastline has resulted in a large part of it being named a World Heritage Site.
You walk takes you on an unending magical journey of smugglers coves and hidden pirate inlets, tiny fishing harbours and unspoilt Cornish seaside villages, Tintagel castle and St Michaels Mount, Lands End,the Lizard and Roseland Peninisulas,just a very few of the highlights of fabulous walk.
You will see peregrines and golden plovers, puffins and guillemots, grey seals, dolphins and orcas, and if you look carefully down into the clear azure waters, see sharks and orcas. In spring and summer the coast path is decorated with rainbows of colour of varieties of species of plants not seen elsewhere in Britain because of its Mediterranean like sea climate
Few people have the time or energy to complete this outstanding walk in one go. However the path can be divided into nine different sections, which can be walked one or two weeks at a time, enabling you to complete and enjoy a unique and memorable walking achievement
